The Institute for Philosophy in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Würzburg offers the position of
Research Group Leader/Coordinator for the project
Intention and Attention
in Phenomenology and the History of Philosophy
The position is to be offered for a period of up to 5 years for the duration of the Junior Research Group. In addition to the position of the head of the group, the research group consists of one post-doc position and one position for a PhD-candidate (0,5) to be filled by the head of the group.
The Leader of the Research Group, in cooperation with a small group of other researchers for whom a post-doctoral position and a doctoral grant will be provided, will conduct research on the intentional and attentional structures of human consciousness. The focus of the research will be on the link between the phenomenologically oriented approach to intention and attention (notably in the theory of perception, the theory of knowledge, the theory of action, and in philosophical anthropology) and the historical background of the research in these fields in ancient and medieval philosophy.
The successful candidate will conduct intensive research in the fields of phenomenology and/or history of philosophy; s/he will be responsible for the scientific and administrative coordination of the research group. The candidate will also teach courses at the BA and MA levels at the Institute for Philosophy.
Applicants are assumed to hold a doctoral degree in philosophy with a focus either on phenomenology or on the history of philosophy (ancient and/or medieval). Additionally, the applicant should be willing to specialize in this research area and will be expected to concentrate on the topics and the issues addressed within the research project as a whole. The candidate should have a strong international profile and a record of publication in relevant areas.
The University of Würzburg is an equal opportunity employer. As such, we explicitly encourage applications from women. Severely handicapped applicants will receive preferential consideration when equally qualified.
