The Helpdesk is an institution of the Dean's Office for the Faculty. It is funded by special funds for assistants. It helps every employee of the faculty in case of computer problems.
The Faculty of Human Sciences consists of fourteen locations. Next to different external devices there is a total of several 100 computers in all those buildings.
To be able to maintain to a certain degree this large number of interconnected equipment and because there is no central office to do so, the Dean's Office employs assistants who are provided by central funds for a technological trouble shooting. The Helpdesk works in addition to the network administrators of the buildings and the system administrators of the individual departments and chairs. A special focus lies on the collaboration with the network admisnitrators who are responsible until the power socket!
