Dissertation title: Neural responses to reappraisal of arousal pictures in dependent smokers

Abstract: This project aims to investigate whether appraisal, a well-studied effective emotion regulation strategy, could alter how the arousal pictures are responded in dependent smokers. We are particularly interested in whether the late positive potential (LPP), a sensitive index of facilitated attention to emotional stimuli, could be modulated by the more or less negative interpretation of cigarette-related stimuli in dependent smokers.
