Der Vortrag trägt den Titel: "Feministische Bibelwissenschaft in einer globalisierten Welt" und findet am 14. Mai 2018 von 14-16 Uhr in R. 02.202 am Wittelsbacherplatz 1 statt. Im Anschluss bietet Elisabeth Schüssler-Fiorenza einen Lektüre-Workshop von 16-18 Uhr an.

Die Harvard Professorin und frühere Würzburger Studentin Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza wird in ihrem Vortrag feministische Bibelwissenschaft als kritische Befreiungswissenschaft diskutieren. Es ist ein großes Verdienst dieser Forschungsrichtung, dass Bibeltexte explizit als politisch-religiöse Artefakte erkennbar werden. Elisabeth Schüssler-Fiorenza verortet die feministische Bibelexegese innerhalb des weiteren Kontextes feministischer Studien im Bereich von Religion. Außerdem nimmt sie Bezug auf die Elemente von Machtkritik und intersektionalen Analysen. Es geht ihr um eine prinzipielle Kritik an der neoliberalen Vereinnahmung biblischer Texte und kirchlicher Institutionen, wie sie sie insbesondere gegenwärtig in den USA sieht. Im Anschluss an den Vortrag wird Elisabeth Schüssler-Fiorenza ihre Methode feministischer Bibelinterpretation innerhalb eines Workshops mit uns erproben. Vortrag und Workshop werden in deutscher Sprache stattfinden. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza, Krister Stendahl Professor at Harvard University Divinity School, is an international well-known biblical scholar and path-breaking feminist intellectual. She has done pioneering work in biblical interpretation and feminist theology. Dr. Schüssler Fiorenza’s teaching and research focus on questions of biblical and theological hermeneutics, ethics, rhetoric, and the politics of interpretation, as well as on issues of the*logical education, diversity and democracy. She is the co-founding senior editor of the Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion, was the first woman president of the Society of Biblical Literature and was elected a member to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Her landmark work In Memory of Her has become a classic in Biblical Studies and was translated into more than ten languages. Her recent collections of essays Transforming Vision: Explorations in Feminist The*logy ( 2011), Changing Horizons: Explorations in Feminist Interpretation (2013); Empowering Memory and Movement: Thinking and Working across Borders (2014); and her latest books are Feminist Biblical Studies in the Twentieth Century (ed.;2014); 1 Peter: Reading Against the Grain (2015), Congress of Wo/men: Religion, Culture and Kyriarchal Power (2016) und Ephesians in the Wisdom Commentary Series.
